Senior Design Spotlight: Aidan Collins

Aidan Collins embodies a sense of boldness to the fullest extent with his collection “Gregowicz”. Named after his grandfather, the collection combines American western motifs with European refinement in 26 looks. Though leather, silk, and wool are the building blocks of the garments, Collins’ own passion and joy completed the ultimate wish for the collection to encapsulate his grandfather’s ability to enjoy the little things in life. The prospect of coordinating such a large amount of looks and models might seem daunting to some, but Collins used it to his advantage to further the simple, joyful theme: models will be walking at a faster, more upbeat pace.

Collins welcomes the fun and creative outlet that is CFC, particularly because he is currently completing his Master's in Material Science and Engineering while also finalizing his time as an undergraduate Fiber Science major. Even with this demanding schedule, he is forever grateful for the long nights spent in the studio laughing with his peers. His passion and determination are evident and prove to be traits that he encourages all young designers to possess–as long as you are following your own path and are doing so with fun people by your side, no task is too big. Lastly, for those who are not involved in CFC yet, Collins assures that, from personal experience, “if someone random ever approaches you in a dining hall asking you to model, you should totally do it!”
